Hosting Ajahn Dhammasīha at Wisdom Park

On Saturday 20 January, we joyfully welcomed Ajahn Dhammasīha, Abbot of Dhammagiri Forest Hermitage, in Brisbane, Australia to Wisdom Park.  In this short visit on his transit from Thailand, Ajahn toured the educational campus with members, who shared the Park’s objectives and Dhamma programmes hosted here.

100th birth anniversary of Acharya S. N. Goenka

Today 30 January 2024, marks the 100th birth anniversary of renowned meditation teacher, the late Acharya Satya Narayan Goenka.  Born on 30 January 1924 in Burma to a conservative Indian family, he moved to India in 1969 and started teaching meditation.  His teaching emphasized that the Buddha's path to liberation was non-sectarian and universal.

d’CRADLE Management Retreat at Wisdom Park

From 20 to 21 January, Wisdom Park hosted d’CRADLE – Centre for Research and Dhamma Leadership Enhancement – for their 2024 Management Retreat. This campus built by the Buddhist community for the Buddhist community welcomed its first guest organisation to conduct their training programme within its serene grounds.

Come and explore the theme ‘Education of the Heart’ with good friends at the Second National Camp for Dhamma School Teachers organised by Nalanda Buddhist Society and Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia (TBCM). JB Branch members start chanting course

On Saturday 20 January, members and devotees from Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch commenced their chanting course guided by the Society’s Board of Management members Bro. Charlie Teng and Sis. Santī Cheang.  In this first of four sessions, the group were introduced to the meaning and significance of chanting, followed with guidance on the proper chanting in Pāli.

A wholesome Uposatha Day at Nalanda

Today, members and volunteers from across Nalanda’s educational divisions gathered to learn, discuss and plan for upcoming programmes at Nalanda Centre.  These trainings and meetings carried out harmoniously with kalyana-mittas are an important part of the education mission process to foster togetherness, enhance our skills and yield beneficial results.  This wholesome day continues with the group meditation and a Dhamma talk by Sis. Nandini Tan at NEO Centre in Happy Garden this evening at 8pm.

Spirit of sportsmanship shines on ‘Sports Day’

On Sunday 21 January, Nalanda Youth Centre hosted the year’s first Sports Day.  Over 60 youths and Dhamma School students had an exciting morning at Taman Tasik Sri Serdang putting to test their skills in effective communicating, ability to work in teams and camaraderie.
