Hosting and learning with Ven. Ajahn Visālo

From 21 to 26 March, Nalanda Centre hosted Ven. Ajahn Visālo, an Indonesian monk who ordained under Luang Por Liem, Abbot of Wat Nong Pah Pong.  Devotees and members were grateful for the opportunity to associate with a well-practised teacher to learn the Dhamma and make offerings.

National Camp for Dhamma School Teachers is just 2 days away

We look forward to welcome registered participants to Wisdom Park, Kuala Kubu Bahru for the second National Camp for Dhamma School Teachers.  Jointly organised by Nalanda Buddhist Society and the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia (TBCM), the Camp is a platform for Dhamma School teachers to learn and discuss ways to enhance approaches in sharing the Buddha's teachings in a systematic and engaging manner to the younger generation.

‘Happy Young Adults’ explore well-being in life

On Tuesday 19 March, 30 youths came together at Nalanda Book Café Community Centre to explore ways to develop ourselves holistically at the Happy Young Adults programme.  Guided by Bro. Tan Siang Chye, the group consisted mainly of young adults who are at the start of their careers, often facing similar challenges at work.

First Youth Members’ Day of 2024

On Sunday 17 March, Nalanda Youth members gathered at Nalanda Youth Centre in Sri Serdang for the first Youth Members’ Day of 2024.  The purpose of this gathering is to formally welcome new Youth members on board, to reflect on our learning journey over the past year, and to align our direction for the year ahead.

Community gathers for Pindacāra at Seri Kembangan.

On Saturday 16 March, the Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme was reintroduced to the local community at the morning wet market in Seri Kembangan.  Many vendors and market-goers were happy to again see the sight of monks walking barefoot and receiving alms at the Bazar Rakyat; as they also took the opportunity to make offerings themselves.

Sutta Study Course commenced at all Nalanda Branches

Last Saturday 16 March, over 100 participants, facilitators and volunteers commenced the first session of the Sigalovada Sutta’ (Digha Nikaya 31) Study Course in Mandarin.  Held concurrently across all three Nalanda Branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani, this course is organised by Nalanda Institute Malaysia and provides an insight into the Buddha’s teachings about the laity’s duties and moral conduct.

Ajahn Visālo arrives at Nalanda

We are honoured to receive Ven. Ajahn Visālo at Nalanda Centre today, where he will stay from 21– 26 March. Ajahn will give his first talk TONIGHT, 8pm at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur.  His next talk will be this Sunday, 9am at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.

Newly launched Family Dhamma School in JB

On Saturday 16 March, over 20 parents and children embarked on their Dhamma learning together at Family Dhamma School, held at NEO JB in Taman Johor Jaya.  This weekly programme is newly launched to serve as a nurturing platform for families to foster spiritual growth and achieve domestic bliss.

Nalanda Free School teachers meeting to start 2024 School year

On Saturday 16 March,  Nalanda Free School welcomed all its teachers for their first meeting of this academic year.  The School’s Principal Dr. Ng Chwee Fang shared that over 150 students have registered and the School will help them not only in their secular subjects, but also in the key areas - knowledge, skills, values and cultures.
