Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme

From 16-25 November 2023, Nalanda Buddhist Society will host the 2nd Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme in conjunction with the Society’s 20th Anniversary celebrations.  Nalanda undertook this important project in partnership with several Buddhist organisations in India as part of our long-term vision to propagate Buddha-Dhamma in its land of origin, and to revitalize the proper learning and practice of Buddhism there.

Youths serve and learn at Wisdom Park

Last Saturday 4 November, participants of the Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N.) combined their fourth learning session with performing service at Wisdom Park.  The university students worked together and supported each other in making quick work of turning around the facilities for the next two programmes at the educational campus.

Nalanda leaders gathered for training

On 28 to 29 October, 65 Nalanda leaders from Serdang Headquarters and Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani Branches came together to refresh and realign in their missionary.  Over these two days, the group explored various aspects important to their roles including the Society's Code of Conduct, ways to manage challenges and resolving issues in leading teams, and the importance of continuous learning.

Gratitude & rejoice at Sangha Day

Last Sunday 29 October, over 300 Nalanda members, Dhamma School students, volunteers and devotees gathered for a joyous Sangha Day Observance at Nalanda Centre.  Friends and families from across Malaysia, came together to learn Dhamma and perform the meritorious deed of honouring the virtues and contributions of the monastic community.

Safe journeys to Firefly Mission friends

Friends from Firefly Mission Singapore have just set off from Kuala Kubu Bahru an hour ago, after spending the last three days in a joyful Dhamma Camp at Wisdom Park.  We rejoice in your learning spirit and wise reflections, and wish the group a safe trip as they journey on to the ‘kathina’ celebrations in Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary.  Sadhu!

Celebrating Ven. Saranankara’s 70th birthday

On Saturday 28 October, 70 Nalanda leaders and members paid tribute to our Spiritual Adviser, Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero on the occasion of his 70th birthday at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul.  Joining over 200 members of the Buddhist community in the offering of lunch dāna, the congregation joyfully celebrated his reverence’s birthday and expressed their appreciation to him, having benefitted from his service of four decades.

Paying tribute to Ven. Saranankara on his 70th birthday

Today, 28 October 2023 marks the 70th birthday of the Most Venerable Bootawatte Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero.  An indefatigable missionary who has dedicated four decades of his life towards uplifting the spirit of social service and unity amongst Buddhists here in Malaysia, his compassionate efforts have touched the lives of many monks and laity alike.
