Dhamma School facilitators retreats and rejuvenates

From 22 to 24 October, 24 facilitators and volunteers from Nalanda Dhamma School gathered at Wisdom Park for their annual retreat to spiritually recharge.  With the theme of “Good Hearted Friends”, the facilitators enhanced their skills in communication, facilitating learning, lesson planning and mindfulness training to improve themselves as educators, while spending quality time with their good friends.

Tribute to the late ‘Aunty Tan’ on the 5th anniversary of her passing

Today marks 5 years since the passing of the late Madam Chin Kim Lan, better known to us as the beloved ‘Aunty Tan’. Over half a century, Aunty Tan dedicated herself to supporting and raising funds for Buddhist communities, charities and under-privileged groups throughout Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. Even in her nineties, Aunty Tan never relented in her charitable efforts and initiatives. Her benevolent and graceful spirit was infectious, inspiring others to also give of themselves in wholesome service back to the community.

Family day out for Dhamma School parents & children

On Saturday 15 October, 72 Nalanda Dhamma School facilitators, parents and students had a joyful Family Day at Wisdom Park.  Families had the opportunity to work together to render their service in upkeeping Wisdom Park and greening the environment.  The service was followed by family-bonding activities which were filled with fun while instilling wholesome values such as patience, mutual support and trust between family members.

Happy Diwali to all

‘Diwali’, or ‘Deepavali’ in Malaysia, is often called the “festival of lights”.  The light that abolishes darkness is emblematic of the triumph of goodness over evil; truth over falsehood; and wisdom over ignorance. On this festive occasion, Nalanda Buddhist Society wishes our Hindu friends a “Joyous Diwali” filled with goodwill, harmony, and peace!  May you have a wonderful celebration with family and friends, and discover a ‘world of brightness and light’ in others, and within ourselves.

“Happy Young Adults” conclude with forum

The inaugural “Happy Young Adults” programme concluded last Tuesday 11 October after 11 weekly gatherings to address common challenges faced by young working adults, and how to resolve them skillfully in accordance with Dhamma. The insightful talks and discussions with speakers who exemplify strong values throughout their careers, as well as interactive activities, culminated in a public forum on “Being a Successful Working Buddhist”.

“Lawatan sambil belajar” di Taman Botani Putrajaya

On Sunday 9 October, participants of the Horticulture & Landscaping Course (HCL 001) completed their course with a study trip to the Botanical Garden at Putrajaya.  The educational tour was led by Dr. Chen, lead of the Landscaping Team at Wisdom Park and focused mainly on the trees in the Park’s botanical theme sector of ‘Forest Fringe’.

‘Sangha Day’ is an important occasion at Nalanda for the lay community to honour the virtues and contributions of the Māha Sangha (monastic order) in preserving and propagating Buddhism. Devotees express gratitude to monks and nuns who strive diligently in practising the Dhamma, and teaching it for the benefit of mankind.

60 days to Officiating Ceremony of NEO Centre KL

Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Kuala Lumpur is now at 95% construction completion.  Whilst interiors have started to be fitted-in over the past weeks, members and volunteers have also been carrying out daily chanting there, as well as prepare the premise to welcome guests for its Officiating Ceremony on Sunday, 11 December 2022.
