Passing of Ven. Polpitiya Kassapa

Deepest condolences to the disciples and students of the late Venerable P. Kassapa.

We are saddened to announce the passing away of Venerable Polpitiya Kassapa Nāyaka Thero, meditation teacher and founder of Rockhill Hermitage, Sri Lanka, on Monday, 18 July 2016.  He was a disciple of the Most Venerable Balangoda Ananda Maitreya Māha Nāyaka Thera, one of the most renowned Theravada monks of the 20th century.

The late Venerable Kassapa taught Vipassana Meditation and Buddhism for many years in Australia and Sri Lanka.  He had also conducted several notable programmes here in Malaysia, including at the Buddhist Maha Vihāra, Sungai Long Buddhist Society, and Nalanda Centre.

Nalanda Buddhist Society records our deepest condolences to the disciples and students of the late Venerable Kassapa.  We shall dedicate merits to his reverence after tonight’s meditation session and Dhamma teaching.  Santī, Peace.
