On Saturday, 20 April, Nalanda organised a Pindacāra in the Seri Kembangan market for the first time as a form of public outreach and education. This is part of a series of alms-rounds that Nalanda will be organising there to provide a chance for people to meet and offer alms to monks on a regular basis.
All prepared and happily waiting to offer alms to the venerables.
Nalandians, volunteers and devotees first gathered at Nalanda Centre early in the morning for puja. Bro. Tan reminded everyone to carry ourselves with metta and mindfulness during the Pindacāra as part of our spiritual development.
Upon arrival at the Seri Kembangan market, we were delighted by the strong support and positive response from the marketing crowd and stall operators! Many were learning for the first time what the Pindacāra signified, and promptly took the opportunity to offer alms-food to the venerables. What a joyful sight!
Monks going on alms-round in the Seri Kembangan market was a rare sight for most market-goers. The receptiveness and interest shown by the public to this opportunity to perform dana was simply remarkable!
Next month, in the lead-up to Wesak Day, Nalanda is organising alms-rounds on a weekly basis as follows:-
4 May, Saturday Taman O.U.G. morning market
11 May, Saturday Seri Kembangan morning market
18 May, Saturday Seri Kembangan morning market
26 May, Sunday Taman Johor Jaya morning market, Johor Bahru (New!)
Come and participate in this wholesome giving, and enjoy the merits of generosity and joy! All are welcome!
