Pindacāra during Lunar New Year festivities

Pindacāra during Lunar New Year festivities

As the monks walk mindfully on the alms-round, volunteers follow from behind to help.

On Saturday 4 February, the community at O.U.G. and Happy Market gathered to perform the meritorious deed of dāna in support of the Mahā Sangha.  Even as vendors and marketgoers are busy preparing for the last few days of the Lunar New Year festivities, many stepped forward to offer food and requisites at Pindacāra (monks on alms-round), experiencing the joy of giving especially to those worthy of honour.

As we partake in the practice of giving, let us be reminded that the intention of the giver before, during and after the act of generosity is the most important factor involved.  Giving can help us to overcome greed, develop kindness, compassion and selflessness.  Further, the most excellent intention is for these acts to strengthen our efforts in spiritual progress and ultimately gain freedom from suffering.

With knowledge of the advantages of giving, let us be vigilant to seize opportunities to practice this great virtue.  Sukhihontu.

Giving with respect and faith derives much joy for the giver.

This programme gives opportunity to the laity to be more aware on how they can support the Sangha.

After the alms-round, devotees gather at NEO KL for chanting and learning.

Bhante Ariyadeva shared about the importance of being mindful in all aspects and how we can live in moderation.
