Pindacāra led by Ven. Sayadaw Saṅgharakkhita

Pindacāra led by Ven. Sayadaw Saṅgharakkhita

Volunteers are on hand to assist Ven. Saṅgharakkhita and the community during the programme.

On Saturday 5 April, Ven. Sayadaw Saṅgharakkhita led the monthly Pindacāra at the morning markets in O.U.G. and Happy Garden. Sayadaw carried with him his ‘Patta Kya’ (monastic fan) for practicality, detachment and mindfulness and to symbolise the sacred commitment & adherence to the Vinaya.

During this Qing Ming period, market-goers and stall vendors gathered to perform meritorious deeds of offering requisites and food to the Sangha, garnering merits to share with their departed loved ones and ancestors. It was an uplifting sight to see the convergence of mutual support between monastics and laity, ancestral remembrance and the reinforcement of one’s spiritual practice.

In the morning Dhamma teaching at NEO Centre KL, Sayadaw shared that the laity’s respect, sincere support, devotion and generosity to the monastics contribute towards the sustenance of the Sāsana.  He encouraged us to continue in our efforts to avail community programmes such as this, which provides a platform of spiritual nourishment for both the laity and monastics.

We extend our appreciation to Sayadaw for his advice, which further invigorated Nalanda members and volunteers in their service.  Sadhu anumodāna!
