Over the past two days, intense rainfall has inundated the valley around Kathmandu, Nepal. Flash floods, landslides and collapsed buildings have caused over 120 deaths and thousands of people to be displaced. Floods are reported to have broken waterpipes, and affected telephone and power lines.
Over 10,000 rescuers and volunteers have been dispatched to search in the flood-struck areas. The death toll is expected to rise as reports come in from villages across the mountainous country.
Let us spare thoughts of loving-kindness to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. May the rescuers carry out their mission safely and may the missing victims be found soonest. May the fallen ones rest in Peace. Sotthi.
