Recap, Review and Reinforce

20 June 2012

Before the self-practice group sitting meditation, we reaffirm our faith in the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha.  With understanding and devotion, we pay homage to our Teacher, the Enlightened and Blessed One, take the Three Refuges and observe the Five Precepts.

Thereafter with gladdened heart and mind, thoughts in check and our posture adjusted, we began watching the ‘inflow and outflow’ of our breath, observing like a third party, without controlling the breathing.

After the sitting meditation, the teachings given by Bro. H S Tan on 23 and 30 May were recapped, reviewed and reinforced.  The important advice of practising non-grasping was further emphasised with a passage from the Samyutta Nikaya and a story from the Dhammapada.

Do come and join us for the teaching by Bro. Tan on this Sunday, 24 June 2012 at 9am – 12pm.  With constant learning and practice, may we all evolve progressively along the spiritual pathway and finally cross the ‘boundary’, from anariya to ariya.
