Today on 31 August 2024, Malaysians the world over mark our nation’s 67th Independence Day.  We are thankful to be able to observe this milestone in relative peace and prosperity.  Let us reflect on the theme ‘Jiwa Merdeka’ and how we can embody this to free ourselves from negative actions, emotions and thoughts as well as our part to play in contributing to a harmonious and united nation.

On this day, let us recollect and appreciate the sacrifices of our forefathers who handed us this inheritance which is Malaysia.  Our gratitude also goes to civil servants, private enterprises, good citizens and our foreign guest workers for helping us in the arduous task of nation-building over the past decades.  Nalanda Buddhist Society wishes all a Happy ‘Merdeka Day’!
