This weekend, Muslims worldwide celebrate ‘Aidilfitri’ which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting of Ramadhan. This year, many Malaysians may not be able to gather and celebrate as usual with their elders, relatives and friends, considering the on-going prohibition on inter-state travel and the ban on having large gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the quality of our relations with others is neither defined by our physical proximity nor distance from them. It is the sincerity of intentions, thoughts and deeds that enable us to connect and rejoice with anyone, no matter where they are.
Nalanda Buddhist Society wishes our Muslim friends a blessed Syawal. May the devotional practices over the past month bring you much joy and peace. Salam Mettā.
