Nalanda Buddhist Society pays tribute to this great monk, scholar, and teacher.

It is with profound respects that we announce the passing away of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, on Thursday, 24 October 2013.  His Holiness had been the 19th titular head (Somdet Phra Sangharaja) of the Thai monastic order since 1989.

His Holiness had just celebrated his 100th birthday on 3 October this year.  However, he has been in poor health for more than a decade.  After a recent medical procedure, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and his long, fruitful lifespan finally came to an end.

As a mark of deep respects, Nalandians will be observing three sessions of chanting and dedication of merits on Friday (8pm), Saturday (9am), and Sunday (9am), 25 – 27 October, at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang.  All devotees and members of the public are welcome to join in these special memorial services.
