Cultivating wholesome acts of giving

On Saturday 19 September, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ programme (monks going on alms-round) was joyfully held at Seri Kembangan market.  Our friendly “People Engagement” team was actively engaging with traders and devotees at the market.  Leaflets explaining what ‘Pindacāra’ was about were also distributed to on-lookers.

Alms-Round in Sri Petaling & Happy Garden

On Saturday 5 September, the monthly educational ‘Pindacara’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets was held with two venerable Sangha members going on alms-round.  Devotees and members of the public waited patiently along the ‘Pindacara’ route, for the venerable monks to arrive and joyfully offered alms food.

‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 15 August, Nalandians arrived early at the Seri Kembangan market and started to prepare the venue while greeting our trader friends and devotees around the area.  Members of the public stationed themselves along the ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-round) route, waiting patiently for the arrival of venerable monks.  Some explained to their friends about the meaning of this meritorious occasion and encouraging them to participate.

Pindacāra in Kuala Lumpur

On Saturday 1 August, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ Programme at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets was held with three venerable Sangha members going on alms-round.  The morning Pūja and chanting session at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur was led by Branch Chairman, Bro. Eugene.  Nalandians and volunteers then proceeded to Sri Petaling and subsequently to Happy Garden for the alms-round.

Alms-round in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 18 July, Nalanda’s monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme was joyfully held at Seri Kembangan market.  Nalandians came together to set up the information counter and engage the public.  Despite being the ‘Hari Raya’ holidays, it was inspiring to see many traders and residents around to offer food to the two venerable monks.

Alms-round at Sri Petaling & Happy Garden Markets

On Saturday 4 July, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ Programme at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets was held with two venerable Sangha members going on alms-round.  The devotees and volunteers welcomed Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan and Exco members, Bro. Charlie and Bro. Pee at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur.  The programme started at 7.30am with the morning Pūja and chanting session led by Bro. Tan.  Thereafter, volunteers and devotees proceeded to Sri Petaling and Happy Garden for the alms-round.

Monthly ‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 20 June, Nalanda’s monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme was joyfully held at Seri Kembangan market.  The ‘Pindacāra’ was well-attended by local devotees and our ‘kalyana mitta’ (spiritual friends) from Singapore.  It was indeed an enriching experience for them to participate in this wholesome activity.  May the merits accrued be shared with all beings.  Sadhu anumodana!

June Pindacāra in Sri Petaling & Happy Garden

On Saturday 6 June, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme was once again held at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets.  Nalandians, devotees and volunteers gathered at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Kuala Lumpur at 7.30am to start the day with Pūja and chanting before proceeding to the nearby Sri Petaling market at 8.30am and subsequently, to Happy Garden market at 9.30am.

Pindacāra at Seri Kembangan Market

On Saturday 16 May, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme at Seri Kembangan market was eagerly participated by devotees.  Members of the public were waiting patiently along the ‘Pindacāra’ route to offer food to Sangha members.  Our friendly ‘People Engagement’ team was also on hand to explain to the public at nearby eateries the meaning and significance of ‘Pindacāra’. ‘Buddha Day’ Pindacāra in Sri Serdang

In the early morning of Sunday 3 May (which was Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ in Malaysia), dozens of devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre and around Taman Sri Serdang to offer alms to venerable Sangha members on Pindacāra.  It was inspiring to see many people manifesting the spirit of ‘cāga’ (generosity) through wholesome acts of giving.
