Nalanda Bulletin Issue No. 38 (March 2017 edition) is now available for collection at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang and our branch centres.  This latest issue highlights events at Nalanda in January and February 2017, including photographs of Bro. Nalanda Dhamma School Honours Day

On the last day of 2016, Nalanda Dhamma School Facilitators, students and their parents, alumni, volunteers and guests gathered at Nalanda Centre for the annual School Appreciation and Honours Day.  It was an important event to celebrate the learning and progress of students throughout the year, and also to give thanks to teachers and parents who supported their learning.

Convocation Ceremony & Gratitude Day

Nalanda Institute Malaysia will convene a Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 14 January for graduates of BPS304 Certificate in Buddhist Studies, class of 2016.  It is also a day of gratitude and appreciation to all teachers, volunteers, and benefactors who provided precious opportunities for Dhamma learning.

School Honours Day in Johor Bahru

On Sunday 20 November, Nalanda Dhamma School in Johor Bahru celebrated the succesful completion of their second year with an “Appreciation & Honours Day”.  This year, 34 teenagers grew together with us at our spiritually-nourishing NEO Centre.

Thank you for a marvellous year!

2016 had been another great year for Nalanda. With the full-functioning of facilities in Sri Serdang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Sungai Petani, we were able to host many more people who came to learn and practise Dhamma.

Sewing robes for offering in India

For the past few weekends, Nalandians have been taking part in cutting and sewing robes to be offered in India during this year’s pilgrimage.  Two sets of special robes and sash have been prepared for offering at the Māhabodhi Vihāra in Bodhgaya and the Māhaparinibbāna Vihāra in Kusinara.

Long Live Their Majesties

Nalanda Buddhist Society would like to thank His Majesty Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah of Kedah who is stepping down as the 14th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong today after a successful five-year reign.  His Majesty was elected Malaysia’s Supreme Ruler for the second time on 13 December 2011.  He was the country’s 5th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong from 1970 to 1975.

Nalanda Free School ‘Appreciation Day’

On Saturday 22 October, Nalanda Free School held its annual ‘Appreciation Day’ to honour all its volunteer teachers who have lovingly given their time and effort to educate the community.  The occasion also provided an opportunity for students to show their gratitude and appreciation to their teachers.  Some students came up with a dance performance which greatly amused everyone present.

First anniversary of Wisdom Park Committee

On Sunday 16 October, the Wisdom Park Development Committee (WPDC) celebrated its first anniversary of establishment and operation.  WPDC was formed in October 2015 with initially 13 members, and was tasked with preparing the ‘Master Development Plan’ for Wisdom Park – the proposed education hub for the Malaysian Buddhist community.  3 more members were later invited to join WPDC to strengthen the team.

Flowing gratitude in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 17 September, two venerable monks were invited to go on alms-round at Jalan Besar market in Seri Kembangan.  The monthly alms-round is a keenly awaited event by market-goers and stall operators alike, as it enables otherwise busy people to offer food to Sangha members.
