Saying a big ‘Thank You’!

The Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ 2014 which was successfully held on 24 August was indeed a joyful and satisfying experience for all of us!  Nalandians would like to thank our earnest sponsors, benefactors, volunteers and patrons who came from near and far to support our biggest fund-raising event ever.  We owe it to all of you for such a fabulous ‘Fun Fair’!

This wonderfully upbeat video clip produced by Nalandian youth Ajita Lim is dedicated to everyone who has been so merry and supportive of us.  We hope you’ll enjoy it and share this video with your friends, too.  May you be well and happy always!  ‘THANK YOU’!

Close friends from afar came to help

During last weekend’s Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’, we were touched by our Kelantanese friends who came from so far by train, bus and plane to support the event!  An advance party of 8 devotees came to camp at Nalanda Centre for 2 days to help with the preparations.  And they did not come empty handed – together they brought along 2,000 pieces of home-made ‘tao pao’ (a local Kelantanese delicacy), 50kg of various fruits, and 300 coconuts!

Minute’s silence at the Glasgow Games

The 2014 Commonwealth Games is now underway in Glasgow, Scotland.  At the Opening Ceremony of the “friendly games”, the arena observed a minute’s silence in memory of those who perished with MH17.  The Malaysian contingent marched into the stadium led by the flag-bearer carrying the national flag at half-mast, followed by Malaysia Airlines cabin crew and athletes – all wearing black arm-bands.  The contingent received a warm reception and ovation at the ceremony as a mark of empathy and solidarity over the tragic losses of MH17 and MH370.  Thank you, Scotland!
