On Saturday 16 November, devotees observed ‘Sangha Day’ at Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch by learning Dhamma and honouring the Sangha.  We joyfully welcomed Bhante Lim of Dhammavana Meditation (Bukit Mertajam) Centre who delivered a Dhamma talk.

Honouring Free School teachers and volunteers

On Saturday 26 October, Nalanda Free School held its annual ‘Appreciation Day’ to honour all its teachers and volunteers.  As the 2019 school year has come to an end, this was also the occasion to celebrate the achievements of the students.  During the joyous event, everyone was treated to performances by students and was inspired by the wonderful sharing of some teachers.

1st anniversary of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre

Tomorrow (6 October) marks the first anniversary of the launching of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre in Sri Serdang.  The past 12 months have seen the Centre fully utilised for Dhamma camps, meditation retreats, and currently, as the premise for the Adult Dhamma School every Sunday.

Bearing gratitude on Memorial day

31 August 2019 marked the 13th Anniversary of the late Ven. Dr. Kirinde Sri Dhammananda’s passing.  Nalanda members and devotees honoured our late Spiritual Adviser with a commemoration ceremony in the morning.  After the meditation, puja and chanting, Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama delivered a Dhamma talk on the benefits of gratitude and appreciation.

In Memoriam – A decade in passing

On the fateful day of 25 August 2009, while travelling on a charity tour to help build schools and welfare homes in Ladakh, four of our dear Dhamma friends – G. G. Tan, Julie Ang, Jennie Cheong, and Lee Ah Yem – met with a tragic road accident that caused them their lives. Today marks the 10th anniversary of their passing, and a group of Nalandians led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan is now in Ladakh to pay special tribute for their services rendered to the Buddha-Sāsana.

Thank you to ‘Family Fun Fair’ volunteers

Last Sunday 4 August, we invited volunteers and stall operators of the recent Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ 2019 for a simple lunch to thank them for their contribution towards the success of the event.  The Organising Chairperson, Sis. Evelyn expressed her deep appreciation to everyone for their support in hosting the largest Family Fun Fair to-date.

Nalanda Institute’s 12th Anniversary

TODAY marks the 12th Anniversary of Nalanda Institute Malaysia.  Since its inception in 2007, the Institute has been offering hundreds of Buddhist courses, scriptural studies, forums, pilgrimages and study tours both locally and abroad, as well as providing leadership and management training.  Its holistic and structured learning programmes have benefitted over 12,800 participants throughout Malaysia and in neighbouring countries.

Thank you, Dads!

On Sunday 16 June, Nalanda Dhamma School students showered their fathers with love and gratitude in the Father’s Day celebration.  Students and devotees alike were filled with appreciation as everyone recollected the pivotal role that their father played in their lives.  This is especially so for fathers who not only enable their children to learn Dhamma, but have the compassion to actively provide and support Buddhist education for the children in the community.  We wish all fathers enjoy good health, peace and happiness!
