Celebrating Nalanda Institute’s 10th anniversary with Dhamma Forum

On Sunday 2 July, a special Dhamma Forum was organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Nalanda Institute Malaysia.  The speakers at the forum included Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama, Nalanda founder Bro. Tan, Achariya Tan Siang Chye, Datuk Seri Dr. Victor Wee, Datuk Charlie Chia, Bro. Ananda Fong, and Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy.

Face-to-face with Mahāyāna Buddhism

Than Hsiang Foundation Malaysia is organising a seminar this Saturday themed, ‘Face to Face & Heart to Heart’ featuring Venerable Wei Wu, the abbot of Than Hsiang Temple.  The dialogue will be moderated by Buddhist stalwart Bro. Benny Liow.  Former Director of Nalanda Institute Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama and Nalanda founder Bro. Tan will also be presenting their views.

Seminar on Mahāyāna Buddhism

“Dhamma Forum” to mark 10th anniversary of Nalanda Institute

We are honoured to have Nalanda founder Bro. Tan, Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama, and Achariya Tan Siang Chye to jointly conduct a “Dhamma Forum” this Sunday morning.  They will form a panel together with other speakers and moderators of WACANA 2017 to discuss and answer many fundamental questions related to Buddhist practice.

‘Buddha Day’ celebration begins

The celebration of Wesak begins at Nalanda Centre today with morning service at 9.00am, followed by Dhamma talks by Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama on the “Nine Attributes of the Buddha”, and Mandarin talk by Bro. Ooi Boon Keat on “佛陀的九种德行”.  This afternoon at 2.00pm, there will be a forum on “Getting to know the Buddha”, featuring Dharma Drum Malaysia Superintendent Venerable Bhikshuni Changzao, and Bro. Wong from Bodhi KL Musical Group.

‘Buddha Day’ 2561 at Nalanda Centre

The Wesak Full-moon ‘Buddha Day’ commemorates the Blessed One’s Enlightenment 26 centuries ago.  This full-moon marks the 2561st anniversary of His passing; hence the Buddhist Era (B.E.) 2561. Getting to know the Buddha

In conjunction with WesakBuddha Day’ celebrations this year, Nalanda Institute is organising a forum in Mandarin themed “Getting to know the Buddha” <遇见佛陀 >.  The forum will feature prominent speakers Venerable Changzao, the Superintendent of Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia, and Bro. Wong Choon Tatt, leader of the Bodhi Musical Group of Kuala Lumpur; the session will be moderated by Bro. Aggaphala Yap.

Organising team visit venue of WACANA Conference

In early February, the organising team for WACANA 2017 Buddhist Conference conducted a site visit of the proposed venue at The Saujana Hotel near Subang Airport.  The team was there to inspect the ballroom, functions rooms and other facilities available at the resort, and to plan for the conference logistics.

Dialogue on “Buddhist Perspective on Wealth”

On Saturday 9 August, Universiti Putra Malaysia Buddhist Society’s (PBUPM) Alumni organized a dialogue themed <佛教财富观> (“Buddhist Perspective of Wealth”) at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.   The dialogue was presented by Venerable Chang Zao (常藻法师), Superintendent of Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia, and Dato’ Ir. Ang Choo Hong (拿督洪祖豐居士).  The moderator was Bro. Tan Yong Chin (陳永淨).
