180 care bags offered to Welfare Homes

Yesterday, on Monday 22 July, Nalanda members and volunteers got together to deliver some care and kindness to residents of Pusat Jagaan Rumah Juara and PJ Caring Home.  180 care bags with daily use items and food were gifted to each resident of the welfare homes, together with groceries and a wholesome home-cooked lunch.

1,000 bags gifted in two weeks!

From the start of the Family Fun Fair, volunteers have been joyfully preparing and gifting over 1000 ‘Care bags’ at the Fair as well as delivering them to various welfare homes.  Donated by many kind supporters who wanted to both support holistic education as well as the needy, the bags were filled with necessities such as food and clothes as well as much ‘metta’!

Care Bags make their way to welfare homes

In the past week, Nalanda members, youths and students have been working together to prepare for Nalanda Family Fun Fair, which is just a few weeks away on Sunday 13 August.  Particularly joyful is the preparation of ‘Care Bags’ and home-cooked meals for several welfare homes.

Silver Lining Day with Mon children

On Sunday 27 October, Nalanda Youth Centre volunteers visited the Mon Refugee Children Learning Centre at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.  The annual Silver Lining Day programme is an avenue for youths to offer their service for the community and strengthen fellowship amongst these young volunteers.

More ‘Care Bags’ reach the needy

From 4 to 12 August, Nalanda members and volunteers had the priviledge of presenting ‘care bags’ and supplies to charitable homes and the needy around Klang Valley.  With many fair-goers stepping forward to donate towards the ‘Care Bag’ project during the recent Nalanda Family Fun Fair 2019, we were able to choose suitable food items and provisions to help those less fortunate.

Reaching out with more ‘Care Bags’

On Saturday 20 July, Nalandians presented over 65 ‘Care Bags’ and supplies to the children and elderly of ‘Bodhi Homecare’ and ‘Wen Xin Old Folks Home’ in Cheras.  Rarely receiving visitors, the older residents chatted happily with our volunteers.  We were also inspired by the compassion of the caretakers who are fully committed to care for those less fortunate, but no less relevant.

Family Fun Fair Community Outreach

For the past two weekends, Nalandians visited charitable homes to deliver food and supplies to the children and residents of ‘Pusat Jagaan Beribuan Kasih’ and ‘Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da-Ai Malaysia’. As part of Nalanda Family Fun Fair’s objectives towards community-service, we reach out to charitable homes every year and present necessary provisions to support their good work in caring for those in need.

Charity homes participate in Fun Fair

Besides aiming to raise funds for holistic education, Nalanda Family Fun Fair also fulfills its community-service objective by inviting charitable homes to participate in the event.  This year, Tong Sim Senior Citizens’ Home in Kampung Subang, Siddharthan Care Centre in Petaling Jaya, and Bodhi Home Centre in Cheras will be taking part in our Fun Fair.

‘Silver Lining Day’ at Siddharthan Care Centre

Silver Lining’ is a programme initiated by Nalanda Youth Centre in 2015 to promote acts of kindness towards others among Malaysian youths.  A ‘Silver Lining Day’ is organised once every three months where youths dedicate one Sunday to serving the community.

Sponsoring food for welfare homes

On 2 July and 16 July, Nalanda officers paid separate visits to Tong Sim Senior Citizens’ Care Centre and Ci Hang Chempaka Welfare Association respectively.  They were at the two welfare homes to deliver food items such as rice, cooking oil, dried food, and vegetables which were kindly sponsored by devotees.  Nalanda President Sis. Evelyn who led the visits also offered the homes Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ coupons for them to purchase other necessities at the Fair.
