Buddhist Composer Imee Ooi visits Nalanda

Ms. Imee Ooi, one of Malaysia’s foremost Buddhist composer and vocalist, paid a visit to Nalanda Centre on Saturday, 21 March.  Imee, who was accompanied by her colleague Mr. Chai Yu, spent two hours touring the Centre and having discussions with Nalanda officers.  They later made a courtesy call on Nalanda Founder, Bro Tan.

Amazing ‘Xuan Zang – Journey to the West’ Musical

On Saturday 1 November, Nalanda hosted ‘Xuan Zang – Journey to the West’ musical at Istana Budaya.  More than 1,200 guests had a wonderful time attending the musical and were inspired by the true identity of Master Xuan Zang.

“If you haven’t watched it, please do!”

“If you haven’t watched it, please do!”  That was the comment by Bro. Tan after he attended last night’s performance of ‘Xuan Zang – Journey to the West’ at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.  This fabulous original musical by Han Production depicts the travels and travails of Venerable Master Xuan Zang who journeyed for 17 years from China to India and back, in his determined quest to obtain authentic Buddhist teachings and scriptures for his native land.

Fabulous support for a delightful Concert

On 18 October, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch successfully held our inaugural fund-raising event – the “Melodies for the Heart” Concert – in Sungai Petani, Central Kedah.  The concert was an unequivocal success due to the great support and generosity of many benefactors and the effort of selfless volunteers!

Resurrecting the ‘true’ Master Xuan Zang

Nalanda Buddhist Society proudly present an original musical by Han Production – <Xuan Zang Journey to the West> – to be performed at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, 1 November, 7.45pm.  This fabulous musical depicts the ‘real’ Master Xuan Zang – who was bestowed the title of “Great Tripitaka Master of Tang Dynasty” (唐三藏) on account of his great scholarship and mastery of Buddhist teachings by the Emperor of China.
