Continuous learning to uplift our service

Over this weekend, Nalanda members and volunteers have been engaged in training & learnings programmes to upskill ourselves in our service.  Yesterday, participants of the second intake of HCL 001 Horticulture & Landscaping Course started their training in basic horticulture skills towards upkeeping and maintaining the grounds of Wisdom Park.

Finding peace within at Buddha Jayanti Exhibition

From 21 to 26 May, the Buddha Jayanti Exhibition welcomed hundreds of visitors with its eye-catching exhibits and activities.  Organised and hosted by Nalanda Dhamma School, each of the art-work were hand-made by the School’s facilitators and students to relay messages of the Buddha on daily practices to develop a resilient and peaceful mind that stands firm amidst the influence of worldly conditions.

Special forum at Parents Induction Programme

Last Sunday 12 May, Nalanda Dhamma School hosted a special forum for the final session of the Parents Induction Programme.  Parents listened intently to the panellist of Dhamma School graduates who shared how their lives had improved over the years because of Dhamma learning and cultivation from young, as well as the development of kalyana mittata (spiritual friendship) which continue to support them today.

Discovering Dhamma at Parents Induction Programme

On Sunday 10 March, over 40 parents of Nalanda Dhamma School students joined the Parents Induction Programme, conducted by the School’s Chief Facilitator Sis. Lau Wei Nee and Junior Dhamma School Coordinator Sis. Chin Hui. This tailor-made platform is aimed at helping parents adopt ways to support their own and their families’ Dhamma learning and development.

Enriching in Dhamma at stay-in programme

From 29 February to 3 March, 70 students and facilitators from Nalanda Dhamma School spent the school holidays at Nalanda Centre to learn Dhamma and strengthen their bonds with spiritual friends.  Over the four-days, students went through an orientation with the theme “Welcome to Dhamma with Spiritual Friends”.

Bountiful joy & gratitude at tea-ceremony

Nalanda Dhamma School marked the start of their 2024 year with a tea-ceremony on Sunday, 25 February.  The day started with communal chanting before forming individual learning groups – Bro. Tan Siang Chye delivered a talk on parenting based on the Buddha’s teachings, Bro. Disheng delivered a talk to the Youths on the duties of a child to their parents, while the Dhamma School conducted their sessions with the teenage and junior students.

Second National Camp for Dhamma School Teachers

Nalanda Buddhist Society and Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia (TBCM) are organising the second National Camp for Dhamma School Teachers with the theme ‘Education of the Heart’.  This 4-day 3-night camp is a platform for Dhamma School teachers to learn and discuss ways to enhance approaches in sharing the Buddha's teachings in a systematic and engaging manner to the younger generation.
