Read moreA team of 12 Nalandians led by Dharma School Director Sis. Sunanda Ong left Nalanda Centre at 8.00pm this evening for an overnight train ride to Kelantan. The Nalanda team comprising 3 teachers and 9 all-boys student group will stay in Bachok, Kelantan for 5 days to conduct a Dhamma camp for local teenagers. In the meantime, Sis. Sunanda will also conduct a separate training session for Kelantanese Dhamma School volunteer-teachers.

Tan undertook a 5-day tour to Singapore earlier this month and gave several teachings to various groups, including to members of Buddhist Fellowship, Firefly Mission, undergraduate fellowship, and at the Buddha Dhamma Mandala Society (BDMS). Bro. Tan also visited Ven. H Gunaratana and Ven. B Dhammaratana at the Buddhist Library, as well as Ven. S Dhammika at BDMS. It was a fruitful trip as he was fully engaged with many Dhamma activities.

Read moreDuring his most recent tour to Indonesia, Bro. Tan took time to visit a few amazing ‘Srikandis’* in Maribaya and Klaten. Bro. Tan first paid tribute to Venerable Bhikkhunis Ayya Santinī and Ayya Sīlavatī in Maribaya, West Java, last Wednesday. Both Ayyas are currently the only two Theravadin bhikkhunis in Indonesia. They conduct many meditation retreats annually at their centre, as well as travel extensively throughout the vast country to teach Dhamma.

Devotees from as far as Penang and Alor Setar came to listen to the teachings at Central Kedah Buddhist Association. Bro. Tan spoke about the way to approach Dhamma – that is neither “landing short” of it, nor “over-reaching” it. The Buddha-Dhamma is defined as a “Way leading to the cessation of craving, through gradual learning, practice and realization”.
Read moreNalanda Institute's BPS136 Metta Sutta Commentarial Course was conducted for the first time at Kuching Dhamma Vijaya Buddhist Centre on 17 August. Sarawak is the 7th Malaysian state to host the Institute's course after Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Sabah. Outside Malaysia, the Institute's course had also been conducted recently in Singapore.
