On Thursday 16 April, a new lightbox signboard was put up at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Happy Garden. It was installed just in time for Wesak celebrations barely two weeks away then. With such visible signage in conspicuous bright orange (Nalanda’s official colour), NEO Centre KL may just turn out to be a new local navigational landmark!
Read moreOn Sunday 29 March, Nalanda held its first ‘Open Day’ to enable new visitors to be introduced and given an informative tour of Nalanda Centre. As the Centre was expanded through the generosity of the public, we wish that the community would benefit from this initiative and enjoy a spiritually-charged visit. The ‘Open Day’ was hosted by Bro. Charlie Teng and Sis. Buddhini Tan, EXCO Members of Nalanda Buddhist Society.
Read moreDuring his visit to Sri Serdang on Sunday 15 March, Nalandians invited Venerable Ajahn Sumedho and 3 accompanying forest bhikkhus to ‘officiate’ the new Sangha Room located at Level 4 (next to the Dhamma Teaching Hall) of Nalanda Centre. Founder of Nalanda Bro. Tan invited the venerable monks to accept the ‘room offering’ for the use of visiting Sangha members. Ajahn Sumedho graciously accepted the invitation and became the first person to occupy the room.
Read moreOn Saturday 7 February, Nalanda Youths joyfully gathered at Nalanda Youth Centre to perform spring-cleaning in preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year. The youths started with group chanting, and thereafter proceeded to clean and repaint the Centre; all throughout working happily and harmoniously. Sadhu anumodana!

Today marks the 200th day since the Nalanda Centre Building Expansion Project began in mid-May. Overall work is 95% completed and is on schedule to finish this month – in time for Nalanda Dharma School’s 10th Anniversary Celebration and the 2nd National Members’ Convention!

The scaffolding and netting which ‘wrapped around’ the front of the annex building was removed just a few days ago, “unveiling” the façade of the reconstructed building for the first time in almost 6 months!

Overall, the annex building is 86% completed, while the remaining work is progressing accordingly and is expected to be completed by December. We are very thankful to have achieved a 100% safety record, thanks to good cooperation from the consultants, builders, and sub-contractors.

After being closed 2 months for renovations, the Seminar Hall is being used for the first time since August for the Nalanda Members’ Day this afternoon. We would like to thank our benefactors, contractors, and all Nalandians for your kind contributions and well-wishes. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We rejoice at the reopening!
