A day of deep gratitude

On Sunday 12 February, parents and children gathered for a heart-warming, tea-offering ceremony at NEO Centre, Happy Garden.  The programme was organised by Nalanda Dhamma School in conjunction with the Lunar New Year, to provide an opportunity for Dhamma School students to express gratitude and appreciation to their parents.

Honouring parents at Tea Ceremony

On Sunday 12 February, Nalanda Dhamma School held its annual tea-offering ceremony in conjunction with the Lunar New Year.  The purpose of the tea ceremony was for children to express their love and gratitude towards parents and teachers who have cared for, and supported them unconditionally.

Fathers are often the unsung heroes in the family.  Patriarch, leader, provider, protector, counselor – modern dads play as varied a role to their children as mothers do.  Children who are supported by mothers and fathers are indeed blessed.  But the Buddha also taught that those who support their parents are equally blessed.

Today, Nalandians and devotees celebrated Mother’s Day in a special way to show our gratitude to all wonderful mothers who have sacrificed for their children out of compassion.  There is no comparison to the dedication borne of maternal love.  As children, we shall always remember our mothers’ unconditional love, and be filial to them.

‘Sin Chew’ reports Dhamma School activity

The recently-held “Chap Goh Meh” celebrations at Nalanda Centre received more coverage in the local press.  Malaysia’s leading Chinese daily Sin Chew Jit Poh (星洲日报) reported the event in its Metro Edition on Wednesday, 24 February.  On 22 February, the leading English daily The Star had covered the same activity.

Seminar on ‘Positive Parenting’

On Saturday 31 October, Nalanda Dhamma School held its first forum for parents at Nalanda Centre to address the challenges being faced by mums and dads today.  Guest speaker Bro. Aggaphala Yap talked about the importance of ‘Positive Parenting’ and how it could be practised.
