New Year “Open House” in Kedah

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch invites everyone to our “Open House” on Monday, 19 February – the 4th day of Chinese New Year – at NEO Centre in Bandar Mutiara. Join our programme from 9.30am to 12.30pm which includes New Year blessings, lunch for devotees, and most importantly, a special Dhamma talk by Nalanda founder Bro Tan.

Nalanda Centre closed for holiday

Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang will be closed from 13 to 20 February in conjunction with Lunar New Year celebrations.  The Centre will reopen as usual on Wednesday, 21 February at 10.00am.  We wish everyone a happy and blessed New Year!  May you have a joyful and meaningful time bonding with your family, relatives and friends.  新年快乐,万事如意!

Mid-Autumn gatherings at café

The Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on 4 October this year.  At Nalanda Book Café, many families held reunion dinners, enjoying healthy vegetarian meals in a peaceful environment.  The café’s seasonal decoration with Chinese lanterns created a homely touch to their heart-warming gatherings.

Have a joyous ‘Diwali’

‘Diwali’ (or ‘Deepavali’ in Malaysia) is a Hindu festival celebrating the triumph of goodness over evil; and the victory of knowledge over ignorance.  Just as light dispels darkness, even so, wisdom dispels folly and foolishness.  Nalanda Buddhist Society wishes all our Hindu friends throughout the world a joyous ‘Diwali’.  With wisdom, let us all take the steps to greater illumination in life!

Active weekend at NEO Centre KL

Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur will have a packed schedule this weekend with interesting programmes lined-up.  On Saturday 7 October, the monthly educational Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) will be held at Taman O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets, starting at 8.30am.

Mid-Autumn Festival is an important Chinese celebration of togetherness and reunion with family and friends.  It falls on the full-moon day of the eighth lunar month.  This year, Nalanda youths will be celebrating the occasion with a special event on Saturday, 30 September themed “A Night of Togetherness”.
