Wishing you a blessed Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a major annual celebration in East Asia.  For the Chinese people, it is traditionally a day for family reunion and the celebration of harmony and togetherness.  Over the centuries, the festival evolved to include the display of colourful lanterns that mimic the autumn foliage, and the consumption of ‘mooncakes’ (尝月饼).

‘Selamat Berpuasa’ di Bulan Ramadhan

Today is the beginning of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan.  The practise of restraint is not just with regards to food, but also in our conduct, speech and thoughts.  We at Nalanda would like to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters “Selamat Berpuasa”, and a blessed Ramadhan Al-Mubarak.  Salam metta.

Wesak Full-moon Day commemorates the Buddha’s birth, Enlightenment, and passing away some 25 centuries ago. This Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ marks the 2,558th anniversary of His passing; hence the Buddhist Era (B.E.) 2558.

Nalanda Centre reopens on 4 February 2014

After a week’s holiday for the Lunar New Year, Nalanda Centre will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday, 4 February) at 10.00am to continue serving the community.  Our Library will also be operational as usual tomorrow.  We hope you’ve had a wonderful break from work, and energized by reunions with family members and friends.  Welcome back, and see you at Nalanda!
