Nalandians from Kedah visit Mangala Lodge

On Monday 4 May, members of Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch made a stopover at Mangala Lodge in Kampar while on their way from Serdang to Kedah.  The Nalandian group was led by Branch Chairman Bro. Khaw Seng Giap and Deputy Chairman Bro. Teoh Soon Liang.  They were met in Kampar by Mangala Lodge trustees, Mr. and Mrs. Koh.

Sungai Petani Branch Members’ Day in April

On Saturday 25 April, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Gurun Buddhist Association for their monthly Members’ Day.  During the meeting, Sis. Yen See shared her reflections from Venerable Ajahn Jayasaro’s book – “Without and Within”.  She also shared about her personal experience in practising the Dhamma.

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Members’ Day

On Saturday 28 March, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch held our monthly Members’ Day at the usual meeting place – Gurun Buddhist Association.  Members who attended the gathering were glad to have Bro. Tan’s presence during the meeting.  Branch Committee Member Dr. Aw shared his reflections on the “Mūlapariyāya Sutta” with the gathering.  After which, Dr. Song led an interactive discussion session on the topics from Venerable Ajahn Jayasaro’s book – “Without and Within”.

Dāna at proposed NEO Centre Sungai Petani

On Saturday 28 March, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch invited Venerable Thipako and Venerable Chye from Sammāditthi Meditation Grove for lunch dāna at the proposed Nalanda Outreach & Education (NEO) Centre, located in Bandar Mutiara, Sungai Petani.  The dāna was specially arranged to mark the beginning of construction work of the new centre, and to invoke the blessings of the ‘Three Jewels’ for the successful completion of the project.

New Year “Family Gathering” in Kedah

On Saturday 28 February, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members held a “family gathering” in Alor Setar in conjunction with the Lunar New Year.  In his speech, Branch Chairman Bro. Seng Giap thanked all members for their support in carrying out the branch’s programmes.

On Thursday 12 February, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Secretary Sis. Sumedha and member Dr. Song Wai Leng visited the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science & Technology (AIMST) for the first outreach programme on its main campus in Bedong, Kedah.

Nalanda SP Branch Annual General Meeting

Calling all SP Branch members!  The 2nd Annual General Meeting of Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch will be held on Saturday, 14 February 2015, starting at 2.00 pm.  The meeting will be held at Central Kedah Buddhist Association.  All registered Branch members are invited to this important meeting for updates on the Society’s and Branch’s development in 2014, as well as upcoming plans for 2015.  Thank you and metta.

10th Members’ Day In Kedah

On Saturday 27 December, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch held our 10th Members’ Day, the last for the year 2014 at Gurun Buddhist Association.  Bro. Khaw Keng Hooi’s sharing on “Forgiveness” was a timely reminder for members to reflect upon before the new year.  Branch Secretary, Sis. Sumedha shared on the importance of being proactive and giving service to the community.

Visit by Central Kedah Buddhist Association

On Saturday 20 December, 18 members from Central Kedah Buddhist Association paid a visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  They were warmly welcome and hosted by Director of Nalanda Centre, Sis. Nandini and Nalandian officers.  The group was brought on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Nalanda Youth Centre.  Our Kedahan visitors were impressed with the peaceful ambience and colourful design of the Youth Centre.
