On 2 January 2015, Nalandians from all over the country gathered for New Year’s dinner together. The atmosphere was joyous and festive as new and old friends exchanged warm greetings and reconnected with each other.
Read more3 January 2015 saw the successful conclusion of the 2nd National Members’ Convention at the newly expanded Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang. 120 Nalandians from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Kedah congregated over four days to discuss and realign their understanding of Nalanda’s education philosophy and mission. Members also took the opportunity to strengthen fellowship, share personal experiences, and make aspirations together.
Read moreOn Saturday 6 December, Nalanda Buddhist Society hosted four venerable monks for our Pindacāra (monks going on alms-round) Programme in Sri Petaling. After the alms-round, the venerables adjourned to NEO Centre Happy Garden for lunch dāna. Ajahn Sujato from Australia was later invited to deliver a Dhamma talk to the congregation there.

Read moreOn Sunday 23 November, 8 members from 3 Buddhist organisations in Kedah – Young Buddhist Association Malaysia (Kedah Liaison Committee), Gurun Buddhist Association and Guar Chempedak Buddhist Society – made a study visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. The visitors participated in the pūja and chanting at our Service Sunday; after which they were brought on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Nalanda Youth Centre. Our Kedahan visitors were impressed with the peaceful ambience and functionality of the Centre.

Read moreOn Saturday 1 November, Nalanda’s monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme was again held at the Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets. Volunteers and devotees gathered at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Kuala Lumpur as early as 7.00am to start the day with pūja and chanting before proceeding to the nearby Sri Petaling market at 8.30am.
Read moreOn Sunday 26 October, the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur was a hive of activity as more than 1,000 devotees thronged the vihāra for the annual ‘Kathina’ Robe-offering ceremony. The presenting of ‘Kathina Robe’ is one of the ways for the laity to support and pay tribute to the Sangha (monastic order). It is performed yearly after the conclusion of the “monastic rains retreat” (Vassāvasa). We rejoice over the devotees’ faith and meritorious deeds. Sadhu anumodana.
