Back home to a “hero’s welcome”

On 1 December, 20 youths and students from Nalanda Dhamma School left for Johor Bahru to help conduct a Dhamma camp for teenagers there.  They returned joyfully to Sri Serdang on 4 December to a warm, late-night welcome by smiling teachers and parents.

Leaving for camp in Johor Bahru

Early this morning, 20 Nalandian youths and Dhamma School students gathered for chanting at Nalanda Centre before leaving for Johor Bahru to help conduct a 3-day Dhamma camp for teenagers there.  This trip is a wholesome start to their year-end school holidays as it promises much learning and community service.

Camp for teenagers this holiday

During the upcoming holiday, Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch is organising a learning camp for teenagers between 13 and 17 years old.  The camp will be held from 2 to 4 December 2016, at Pure Karma Buddhist Centre, Taman Desa Cemerlang, Johor Bahru.  This educational camp will provide a healthy environment for teenagers to meet many ‘Beautiful Friends’ – friends with ‘beautiful’ behaviour, character, and mind.

School facilitators’ training camp

From 16 to 18 September, Nalanda Dhamma School Johor Bahru Branch organised an energising Facilitators’ Training for twenty facilitators.  The 3-day training camp was conducted by School Director Sis. Sunanda Ong, to develop greater leadership and facilitation skills among the officers.

Sweet lingering memories of Dhamma-Living Camp

Two months ago today, 230 youths gathered at Genting Highlands for our inspiring Dhamma-Living Camp for Young Adults.  For four days, we listened, meditated, learned, shared our thoughts, sang, played, and bonded with new friends and old.  It was undoubtedly a joyful and fruitful gathering for us!

A joyful and inspirational youth camp

For 4 days from 4th to 7th July, Chin Swee Caves Temple in Genting Highlands was rumbling with youthful energy as 230 young adults gathered there to attend the spirited and inspiring Dhamma-Living Camp 3. Throughout the camp, there were insightful teachings by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan on what is the ‘true potential’ of human existence. The discussions and activities galvanized participants on a journey of self-discovery for greater happiness, peace, wisdom, and liberation from ‘Dukkha’.

Joyful learning for Kelantanese campers

During the June school holidays, 10 Nalandians made the journey to Kelantan to help organise a Teenagers’ Learning Camp at Wat Pracacinaram in Wakaf Bharu.  122 youths aged between 13 and 17 years from various parts of Kelantan participated in the four-day camp, from 2 to 5 June.

Teenagers’ camp reported by Press

From 2 to 5 June, Nalanda Dhamma School co-organised a dynamic Dhamma camp in Kelantan for teenagers aged 13 to 17.  The 4-day camp was attended by 122 students from all over the East-Coast state.  School Director Sis. Sunanda led her team of 8 facilitators and youths to assist in running the holiday camp.
