Last Saturday 4 November, participants of the Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N.) combined their fourth learning session with performing service at Wisdom Park. The university students worked together and supported each other in making quick work of turning around the facilities for the next two programmes at the educational campus.

Read moreOn Saturday 23 September, over 30 teachers, students and volunteers from Nalanda Johor Bahru Free School joined a field trip to enhance the students’ learning experience. Guided by the adults, the trip improved the students’ awareness of conserving the environment and protecting wildlife whilst relating what they learned in the classroom with hands-on experience.

Read moreOn Saturday 10 June, Nalanda Institute hosted the second of three Dhammapada Study Series at Nalanda Centre. Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy led participants in a reflection of 8 verses from the Yamaka Vagga (The Chapter of Twin Verses), in which each pair consist of verses which are similar in language but bear opposite meanings to provide contrast on the path to be taken and the path to be avoided.

On this maiden visit to Nalanda Centre, the group was brought on a building tour to learn about Buddhist history, culture and values that were embedded in its architecture and design.

Prof. Jenkins, Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at Humboldt State University, shared that compassion is a definitive quality of Buddhism and is uniquely paired with wisdom, having studied the topic of compassion for over three decades.
