Wesak Eve Dhamma taching and chanting

On Saturday 2 May, which was Wesak Eve in Malaysia, we were honoured to hear a talk by Founder Bro. Tan at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  A capacity crowd had gathered for the evening Dhamma teaching, as well as for the Wesak Eve meditation and chanting.

Meaningful day of Dhamma learning & practice

Nalanda recently observed Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ with 3 days of Dhamma-learning and meditation programmes.  On Wesak Eve 2 May, a day of Dhamma teaching, group discussions and meditation was organised at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang.   Devotees started the day with meditation, Pūja and chanting, followed by Dhamma Teaching by Nalanda Founder Bro Tan.

7-week Annual Gimhāna Retreat begins 17 May

For the fourth consecutive year, Nalanda will hold its 7-week Annual Gimhāna Retreat from 17 May to 1 July.  Gimhāna Retreat focuses on one’s spiritual growth and personal transformation effected through the Dhamma.  During this period, everyone is encouraged to commit to 7 weeks of intensive Dhamma learning and spiritual cultivation.  Dhamma teachings and meditation sessions are arranged at Nalanda Centre every Wednesday, Sunday and Uposatha (New-moon and Full-moon) Day.

Spiritual and meaningful Nalanda Patron’s Day

18 March 2015 marks the 97th birth anniversary of Nalanda Buddhist Society’s late Spiritual Advisor – Venerable Kirinde Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero.  Since 2007, this date has been designated “Nalanda Patron’s Day” – an annual programme to commemorate and appreciate all our donors, benefactors and volunteers who have contributed tremendously to the growth of Nalanda, and by extension, to the development of Buddhist education.

Observing Uposatha Day meaningfully

On Tuesday 3 February, Nalandians returned ‘Home’ to Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang to spend a fruitful one-day meditation retreat in conjunction with the Thaipusam holiday.  It was a day to ‘let go’ of their busy routines and to practice being here and now.  Nalandians were striving diligently in their practice at the serenity of the Centre.

UPM Buddhist Society Meditation Group

On Thursday 2 October, the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Buddhist Society had another session of group meditation at Nalanda Centre.  The sitting session was led by Venerable Chi Xiang (持向法师), who also gave the undergraduates a Dhamma talk.  The UPM Meditation Group and Ven. Chi Xiang are regular visitors to Nalanda, having held many weekly sessions as well as a meditation retreat here.

Final session of ‘Mettā Bhāvanā’

The Mettā Bhāvanā’ meditation course held at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur every Thursday has entered its 8th and final week.  Bro. Tan will be guiding the last session on 16 October.  This course provides a wonderful opportunity for Nalanda KL Branch members to understand and practise meditation for spiritual purification.
