Meditation Night with Ven. Mettananda

We invite you to join us this Friday 17 November, for an evening of mental cultivation towards concentration, clarity and peace.  Suitable for both beginners and regular meditators, the Meditation Night guided by Ven. Mettananda will start at 8pm with evening chanting.  Ven. Mettananda, an Italian, ordained as a monk in 2011 in Myanmar under Chanmyay Sayadaw by Sayadaw U Indaka (Chanmyay Myaing Sayadaw).

Joyful Dhamma Learning with Ven. Lim Sukhito

From 29 June to 1 July, over 40 Nalanda members and devotees gathered every day at the Dhamma Camp to learn and reflect on the Buddha’s teachings with Ven. Lim Sukhito, Abbot of Bukit Mertajam Buddhist Meditation Centre.  The camp on “Living a meaningful life with the Noble Eightfold Path” was hosted at Nalanda Education & Outreach Sungai Petani, for participants to better understand the Noble Eightfold Path and cultivate virtues to live a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Three months Beginners’ Meditation Course at NEO JB

Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre,  Johor Bahru is hosting a three month 'Bhavana Class for Beginners' every Wednesday from 24 May.  Participants will be introduced to the Buddha's teachings on the cultivation of the mind through guided sessions.

Meditation retreat guided by Ven. Gavesi

From 16 to 25 June, 40 meditators and volunteers gathered at Wisdom Park for a 10-day Meditation Retreat guided by Venerable Gavesi.  At the onset of the retreat, meditators received  clear instructions on Vipassana meditation by Ven. Gavesi, who trained in Samatha and Vipassana techniques under teachers including the late Sayadaw U Pandita, the late Sayadaw Nyanapurnik, and Ven. Sujiva.

Insightful meditation with Ven. Alokavamsa at NEO KL

On 8 June 2023, Venerable Alokavamsa was invited to lead the weekly Thursday meditation session at NEO Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  Venerable hails from Indonesia and was residing in Nalanda for 3 weeks to visit different Buddhist centres around Malaysia. The session started with chanting and a simple guidance for meditation on ways to observe the breath.  Venerable Sir then delivered a teaching on Ānāpānasati (Mindfulness of the Breath) with reference to Mahā-satipaṭṭhāna Sutta, a discourse on ways to develop mindfulness (大念处经 DN 22).

Meditation retreat with Ven. Ajahn Pavaro

From 9 to 11 March, 40 devotees and volunteers checked in at Wisdom Park for a meditation retreat conducted by Ven. Ajahn Pavaro.  He gave instructions to retreatants on their practice before they alternated between hourly sitting and walking meditation, and over the next three days held daily ‘Q&A’ sessions to address their questions.
