Calling all Nalanda members! The 4th National Members’ Convention will be held a month from today in Sungai Petani, Kedah. This will be the first time our National Convention is held outside Sri Serdang. Nalandians have good reason to head north next month as we celebrate the completion and inauguration of Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Sungai Petani.
Read moreOn Sunday 8 November, members of the Wisdom Park Development Committee visited the site in Kuala Kubu Bharu to view the terrain and surroundings. Land survey there, which began in late August, was completed in October. A ‘Master Development Plan’ for Wisdom Park is being drafted by the specially-appointed Development Committee comprising 11 members – 4 professionals, 4 representatives of the Buddhist community, and 3 Nalanda Buddhist Society officers.

Read moreOn Sunday 11 October, Nalanda Centre had the honour of welcoming our Member of Parliament for Puchong, Yang Berhormat Mr. Gobind Singh Deo, and Selangor State Assemblyman for Kinrara, Yang Berhormat Mr. Ng Sze Han, for an official visit. The Yang Berhormats’ entourage was given a warm welcome by Nalanda members while touring the Centre.

The briefing session was the second in a series arranged to provide information on the project, as well as to gather feedback from the community. Ven. Sri Saranankara Thero, Ven. Dr. Dhammadinna, Ven. Bhikshuni Sing Kan, Ven. Sumangalā, Ven. Medhā, Ven. Anulā, and leaders of several Buddhist organisations attended the meeting at Nalanda Centre.

As it was also the Mid-Autumn Festival, Nalanda Buddhist Society President Sis. Evelyn Chow likened the gathering to a family reunion, remarking that unity and harmony are values highly regarded in Buddhism.

Read moreOn Monday 31 August, Nalandians from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur branches gathered at our ‘Spiritual Home’ – Nalanda Centre – for Members’ Day. Members present observed a 3-minute silence to pay tribute to our beloved member, the late Sis. Ooi Sock Khoong, who passed away a week before. Sis. Sock Khoong was earnest in her community service and diligent in her Dhamma practice.
Read moreOn Saturday 22 August, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Gurun Buddhist Association for their monthly Members’ Day. During the meeting, Branch Chairman Bro. Seng Giap reminded members to reflect on the Dhamma teachings taught by Bro. Tan on 17 July and to practice in our daily lives. After an interactive discussion, members agreed on a list of qualities, including faith, generosity and virtues for cultivation towards a good practitioner and good friend.
