Heartful gratitude on Memorial Day

On Wednesday 31 August, Nalanda members, devotees, volunteers and Dhamma School students gathered to honour our late Spiritual Advisor Ven. K. Sri Dhammananda at Nalanda Centre.  Although it has been 16 years after his passing, his missionary impact and contribution to Buddhism in Malaysia continues to be felt in today’s Buddhist societies and communities, of which many are rooted in the late venerable’s efforts.

K. Sri Dhammananda Memorial Day

31 August 2022 marks the 16th anniversary of the passing of Nalanda’s late Spiritual Adviser – Venerable Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero.  We will gather to commemorate our late teacher’s lifetime of contributions to Dhamma propagation with offerings, chanting, and a Dhamma talk by Bro. Tan Siang Chye.  There will also be an offering of lunch dana to members of the Sangha after the talk.  You may bring cooked vegetarian food for the offering.  All are welcome.

K. Sri Dhammananda 15th Memorial Day

31 August 2021 marks 15 years since the passing away of Venerable Dr. Kirinde Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero.  Venerable Dhammananda spent most of his life building and nourishing the growth of the Theravāda Buddhist community in Malaysia.  Under his spiritual leadership, many Buddhist societies were established since the 1960s and continue to benefit Dhamma learners and practitioners today.

Book Sponsorship

Nalanda is publishing a book to pay tribute to the late Venerable Dhammavuddho, who passed away on 22 December 2019.  The 160-page book will be published in time for his 100th Day Memorial Service later this month.  The national-level Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 21 March at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul; and another service will be held on Sunday, 22 March at Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang.

Ajahn Chah Memorial Day

16 January 2020 marks the 28th anniversary of Ajahn Chah’s passing away (in 1992).  He was undoubtedly one of the most revered Buddhist teachers in the modern era, and was a doyen of the “forest monastic tradition” who attracted many Thai and foreign disciples to train under him.
