Reflective Memorial Service for MH17

On Wednesday 23 July, Nalanda Centre was filled with devotees who came to participate in a Memorial Service for the casualties of MH17.  Bro. Tan led devotees in pūja, chanting and Mettā meditation.  After which, a short but impactful video clip showing the last moments of MH17 and aftermaths of the tragedy was presented.  Following that was an inspiring Dhamma talk by Bro Tan.

‘War’ & ‘Peace’ begin in the mind

On 6 August 1945, the horrific ‘Atomic bomb’ was first used in warfare and dropped over Hiroshima, Japan.  Today marks the 69th anniversary of that tragic event.  More than 100,000 people were killed by the Hiroshima bomb and the subsequent fires and radiation.  220,000 more were injured, and scarred for life.  The Atomic bomb was until then the most destructive weapon used by man against man.  With its deployment, Hiroshima was completely destroyed; so was humanity on that fateful day.

Memorial Service for Casualties of MH17

Dear friends, a special evening Service in memory of the casualties of MH17 will be held at Nalanda Centre on Wednesday 23 July, from 8pm to 10pm.  We invite you to participate in this Service with meditation, chanting, and a Dhamma teaching by Bro. Tan, who will talk about the Buddhist response to the vicissitudes of life.  All are welcome.

Nalandians and devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre last night (27 March) for special prayers and a moving Memorial Service for casualties of MH370.  Founder Bro. Tan led the congregation in 20 minutes of Metta Meditation, followed by Pūja (offerings) and Pāli chanting.

Statement from Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia

At 10pm (Malaysian time) on 24 March 2014, the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, went on air to officially announce the fate of MH370 – it is now firmly established that the missing Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashed into the Southern Indian Ocean with 239 people on board.  None of them could have survived.

16 January 2014 marks the 22nd anniversary of Venerable Ajahn Chah’s passing.  More than two decades later, his unique ways of teaching still resonate among us today.  His clear message was presented in simple daily language, yet was deep and profound.  Nalanda pays tribute to this inspiring and influential teacher, whose noble example, wisdom and legacy continue to guide many practitioners presently.  Namo Sanghaya !
