Please Pray for Nepal

We invite everyone to pray and radiate thoughts of ‘mettā-karunā’ to the victims of the massive earthquake that overwhelmed Kathmandu and Central Nepal yesterday.  The earthquake and its aftershocks caused very extensive damage and a great loss of lives.  The death-toll has surpassed 2,000 and is still climbing as news streams in from the interiors.

Let’s fly the Buddhist Flag

Malaysian Buddhists will be observing ‘Wesak Day’ on Sunday, 3 May 2015. We joyfully invite all devotees to display the Buddhist Flag at their homes to foster unity, fidelity, and a stronger sense of community spirit.  The Theravada Council of Malaysia has recommended Buddhists to fly the flag for the entire month of Wesak (‘Vesakha’).  Let us heed the call and look forward to observing Wesak with faith and fervor.

“Good bye, Mr. Lee!”

Today is the funeral of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew – the founding father of modern Singapore, statesman, and visionary extraordinaire.  He has undoubtedly done many good and great things to lead his nation and people to progress and success.  And judging by the hundreds of thousands of mourners who waited patiently for hours to pay tribute to him at Parliament House, the late Mr. Lee was also much admired, respected, and loved by his countrymen.

Remembering Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, 1923 – 2015

This morning I woke up to the sad news of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s passing.  Although he had been unwell and hospitalized since February, with his frail condition and declining health seemingly irreparable, yet, the broadcast of his death still tugged at my heart.  Singapore woke up a grieving nation bereaved of her founding father; the world has lost another legendary statesman.

Our thoughts are with you – QZ8501

A total of 155 passengers and seven crew members were on board the AirAsia Airbus 320, QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore on Sunday 28 December 2014 when it crashed into the sea. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family members of those who perished. May they be at Peace.  Santi.

Pray for missing AirAsia QZ8501

Earlier this morning, an AirAsia Airbus 320, flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore, went missing enroute north of Java Island.  Officials are now scrambling to find out what happened to the routine scheduled flight.  We urge everyone to pray for the 160 people on board and their anxious families.  May we continue to hope for the best.
