On Sunday 6 September, Nalanda Centre welcomed the visit by venerable Ayya Susīla, the Founder of Appamāda Viharī Meditation Centre in Penang. Ayya who was on a short trip to Kuala Lumpur specially made time to visit the recently-completed Nalanda annex building, accompanied by some of her devotees.

Members of the public stationed themselves along the ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-round) route, waiting patiently for the arrival of venerable monks. Wimalaratana from the University of Colombo and his entourage – Venerables Alubomulle Dhammalankara Thero, Marthuwela Vijithasiri, Kolonnawe Siri Sudassi Thero, Dhammasiri and Lecturer Dr. D.A.C. Ayya shared her teaching experiences at various Buddhist Centres in Australia and emphasised the importance of family bonding as parents are the children’s first teachers. As they grow up, the close family relations and guidance from the Dhamma will shape them into useful adults.

As the day signifies the preaching of Buddha’s first discourse, Bro. Tan led devotees in reciting the famous ‘Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta’.
