31 August 2024 marks the 18th anniversary of the passing away of Nalanda’s late Spiritual Advisor – Venerable Dr. Kirinde Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero.   On this day, Nalanda members and devotees will gather to commemorate his lifetime of missionary work and celebrate his spirit and teachings.

Asalha Full-Moon Uposatha service tonight

On this full-moon day of Asalha, Nalanda members and volunteers have been engaging in service and learning programmes since the early morning.  Commencing the day with morning chanting before proceeding for the Pindacara (monks on alms-round) programme at Bazar Rakyat, devotees have since returned to Nalanda Centre to offer lunch dana to venerable monks and partake in Cultivation Day.

Ajahn Narindo on Path of Dhamma

On Saturday 6 July, Nalanda members and devotees gathered for the Uposatha Evening Service to learn from Ven. Ajahn Narindo.  He shared that Dhamma cultivation brings us on a path that goes against the worldly norms which can be difficult to walk.  However, when we persist in overturning our habitual likes, dislikes and attachments, we will find ourselves experiencing more joy and peace.

Dhamma talk tonight by Ajahn Narindo

Today, on the new-moon day of Āsālha, Nalanda members and devotees gathered since morning at Nalanda Centre for a day of cultivation.  Alternating between sitting and walking meditation sessions, the group received guidance from Ven. Ajahn Narindo, a monk of Chinese-Malaysian descent who has been residing and training at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery.

On Thursday 27 June, UPM Buddhist Society (PBUPM) members gathered at Nalanda Centre for their examination blessings ceremony.   Guided by Ven. Miao Dao and Ven. You Yue, the university students offered lights at the altar, and reflected on what they can do to mentally prepare for their examinations.

On Saturday 6 July, the coming Uposatha new-moon day, we invite you to join us for a day of learning and meditation at Nalanda Centre.  Held in conjunction with the Gimhāna Retreat, this Cultivation Day will be guided by Ven. Ajahn Narindo, a monk of Chinese-Malaysian descent who was ordained in 2012 by Luang Por Amaro at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery.

On Friday 21 June, Nalanda members and devotees were privileged to welcome Luang Por Amaro, the abbot of the Amaravati Buddhist Monastery to Nalanda Centre for the evening service and Dhamma talk.  Luang Por Amaro advised the congregation on the distinction between the two kinds of happiness and the two kinds of love which one can experience.

Enriching study trip for Teenage Dhamma School students

On Sunday 16 June, 50 facilitators and students from Nalanda Dhamma School embarked on a study trip to Buddhist Maha Vihara and Sin Sze Si Ya Temple Pioneers of Kuala Lumpur Museum, to deepen their understanding of Buddhist heritage and Kuala Lumpur's history.

Ayasma Aggacitta conducts Meditation Retreat at Wisdom Park

From Friday 14 June to Monday 17 June, Wisdom Park hosted Zest Connection and Staying Alive, social enterprises of mindfulness practitioners and facilitators, for their Meditation Retreat conducted by Ayasma Aggacitta.  Over 40 retreatants and volunteers spent this holiday weekend in the quiet and serene educational campus, enveloped in Dhamma learning, practice and service.

Luang Por Amaro visits Wisdom Park

On Wednesday 19 June, Nalanda members warmly received Luang Por Amaro on his maiden visit to Wisdom Park.  Luang Por toured the parks, pavilions and buildings which were built to provide a conducive environment to facilitate the learning and practice of Dhamma.  He rejoiced in the availability and usage of Wisdom Park for the growth and learning of the Buddhist community.
