On Friday 12 June, Nalanda Centre was honoured by a visit by Venerable Sayadaw U Osadha from California, U.S.A. Sayadaw Osadha was accompanied by the President of Selangor Buddhist Vipassana Meditation Society Bro. Lim Boon Hang and several other devotees. On hand to welcome the venerable were Founder Bro. Tan, Director of Nalanda Centre Sis. Nandini, and other officers.

In the past few days, the “Passage through India” special photography exhibition which is on-going at Nalanda Centre continues to draw groups of visitors. On 11 May, Ven. Sing Kan, the Abbess of Sam Poh Tong Temple in Ampang, came visiting with Ven. Pu Yi from Japan, as well as her two devotees.
Read moreOn Tuesday 21 April, devotees had an inspiring evening listening to Venerable D. Upananda Nāyaka Thero’s Dhamma Talk at Nalanda Centre. Ven. Upananda shared with us the five types of ‘Māra’ that we should be aware of, namely – (1) ‘Devaputta’ – is not only a very powerful deity but is also bent on making life difficult for holy persons; (2) ‘Kilesa’ – the demons of defilement: greed, aversion and delusion; (3) ‘Abhisamkhara’ – karmic activities which are more subtle; (4) ‘Khandha’ – arising from the Five Aggregates; and (5) ‘Maccu’ – death.

Read moreOn Saturday 28 March, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch invited Venerable Thipako and Venerable Chye from Sammāditthi Meditation Grove for lunch dāna at the proposed Nalanda Outreach & Education (NEO) Centre, located in Bandar Mutiara, Sungai Petani. The dāna was specially arranged to mark the beginning of construction work of the new centre, and to invoke the blessings of the ‘Three Jewels’ for the successful completion of the project.
