On Tuesday 10 February, a team of Nalandians participated in a ‘Bodhi Pūja’ at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul. This special ‘Bodhi Pūja’ was offered in honour of Venerable Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Thero, who underwent an eye surgery recently.
Read moreOn Saturday 7 February, Nalanda’s monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-around) Programme was held for the first time in 2015 at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets. Volunteers and devotees gathered at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Kuala Lumpur at 7.00am to start the day with Pūja and chanting before proceeding to the nearby Sri Petaling market at 8.30am and subsequently, to Happy Garden market at 9.30am. The ‘Pindacāra’ was carried out successfully with devotees and members of the public waiting in line for the arrival of the three venerable monks to offer cooked food.

The visiting venerable nuns were warmly received by Nalandian officers. Sis. Nandini brought the venerables on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Youth Centre.

Two venerable monks from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul were invited to partake in the alms-round. Traders and market-goers were happily waiting in-line at the ‘Pindacāra’ route, to offer cooked food to the monks. The venerable monks conducted blessings for devotees and volunteers to conclude the alms-round.

Ayya Santinī is the abbess of a nunnery in Maribaya, Indonesia and a well-known Dhammaduta. We shall observe this spiritual occasion with Pūja (offerings to the ‘Three Jewels’), meditation, and an evening of inspiring Dhamma learning!
