First ‘Pindacāra’ at Seri Kembangan in 2015

On Saturday 17 January, Nalandians, volunteers and supporters were joyfully setting up the venue to welcome the first ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-round) at Seri Kembangan market in 2015.  Two venerable monks from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul were invited to partake in the alms-round.  Traders and market-goers were happily waiting in-line at the ‘Pindacāra’ route, to offer cooked food to the monks.  The venerable monks conducted blessings for devotees and volunteers to conclude the alms-round.

Full-moon Uposatha Service with Ayya Santinī

On Monday 5 January, devotees had an inspiring evening listening to Ayya Santinī’s Dhamma talk for Full-moon Uposatha Service at Nalanda Centre.  Ayya pointed out to us that we have the tendency to do things according to what we like, eventhough it is not right.  We easily succumb to our senses and take things for granted without being aware that’s the reason we continue to do the unwholesome.

‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 20 December, Nalanda Buddhist Society hosted the final ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) programme for year 2014 at the Seri Kembangan morning market.  Three venerable monks from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul participated in this alms-round.

Full-Moon Uposatha with Ven. Ayya Santinī

We are honoured to host Ven. Ayya Santinī for a Dhamma Talk in the Full-moon Uposatha Service starting at 8 pm on Monday, 5 January at Nalanda Centre.  Ayya Santinī is the abbess of a nunnery in Maribaya, Indonesia and a well-known Dhammaduta.  We shall observe this spiritual occasion with Pūja (offerings to the ‘Three Jewels’), meditation, and an evening of inspiring Dhamma learning!

‘Sangha Day’ at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur

On Sunday 23 November, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch held its ‘Sangha Day’ in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur.  The programme began with meditation, pūja and chanting, followed by a Dhamma talk by Bro. Ānanda Fong who shared on the significance of offering to the Sangha.

Monthly Pindacāra at Sri Petaling

On Saturday 6 December, Nalanda Buddhist Society hosted four venerable monks for our Pindacāra (monks going on alms-round) Programme in Sri Petaling.  After the alms-round, the venerables adjourned to NEO Centre Happy Garden for lunch dāna.  Ajahn Sujato from Australia was later invited to deliver a Dhamma talk to the congregation there.

Nalanda hosts Ajahn Sujato

On Saturday 6 December, Ajahn Sujato from Australia was invited to Nalanda’s monthly Pindacāra Programme in Sri Petaling.  Thereafter Ajahn gave a Dhamma talk and accepted lunch dāna at NEO Centre Happy Garden.  Ajahn Sujato later paid a visit to Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang, where he met with Founder Bro. Tan for discussions on Buddhist education.  We thank Ajahn Sujato for his talk and visit to Nalanda.  Sadhu anumodana!

‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

On Saturday 15 November, devotees and volunteers gathered at the Seri Kembangan morning market for our monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round).  On this morning, four members from Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch joined the ‘Pindacāra’ programme for the first time.  They were eager to learn and to experience the joy of helping out at the ‘Pindacāra’ programme.

Experiencing Joy on ‘Sangha Day’ at Nalanda

Nalanda Buddhist Society observed our annual ‘Sangha Day’ on Sunday, 9 November.  On this important occasion, the Buddhist laity took the opportunity to express gratitude and support for the Sangha (monastic community) by offering robes and other requisites, thus practising generosity and humility through the acts of giving.
