A heart full of gratitude on Patron’s Day

Today 18 March is Nalanda Patron’s Day, a time for us commemorate and appreciate all donors, benefactors and volunteers who have contributed tremendously to the growth of Nalanda, and by extension, to the development of Buddhist education.  In Nalanda tradition, leaders and members paid homage at the memorial stupa of the late Ven. K. Sri Dhammananda at the Buddhist Mahā Vihara in Brickfields, where the late monk was abbot for over five decades.

On Saturday 7 March, Nalanda KL Branch members and volunteers hosted the monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden morning markets. As the Sangha members walked mindfully on their alms round, devotees and marketgoers calmly came forward with offerings, creating a heartwarming atmosphere and sight.

Inspiring a nation in Walk for Peace

A group of Buddhist monks and their rescue dog Aloka captivated a nation in their 2,300-mile “Walk for Peace” from Fort Worth, Texas to the capital Washington, D.C. Led by Bhikkhu Pannakara, the Vice President of Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Centre in Fort Worth, Texas, the group completed their arduous journey on 11 February 2026 with a Peace Gathering at the Lincoln Memorial.
