Visit by Ven. Chang Zao of Dharma Drum Mountain

The Superintendent of Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia (法鼓山馬來西亞) Venerable Chang Zao (常藻法师) came for a courtesy visit to Nalanda Centre this afternoon, accompanied by two volunteer officers.  They were warmly received by Sis. Nandini Tan and Bro. Charlie Teng, together with several other Nalandians.

Nalanda Youth Centre officially launched

In a simple but meaningful programme on 1 May morning, the Nalanda Youth Centre was officially launched by the Guest of Honour Bro. Goh Qing Song, President of Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia, in the presence of Ven. Sri Saranankara, other Sangha members, and Buddhist community leaders.  Also present were 200 Nalanda members and guests from Malaysia and overseas. Read more

Nalanda Youth Centre opens on 1 May 2014

Tomorrow is the official launching of Nalanda Youth Centre – the first dedicated centre for Buddhist youth activities in Serdang.  We are honoured to welcome Ven. B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero, Sangha members, and Buddhist community leaders to join Nalandians in celebrating this milestone for the Malaysian Buddhist youth movement.

Second session at Nalanda for NS trainees

On Sunday 20 April, Nalandian youths had a truly wonderful session with the new batch of National Service (NS) trainees at Nalanda Centre.  Arriving half an hour earlier and catching us by surprise while we were in the midst of preparing for their programme, Nalandian youths did a great job in quickly setting things in order to welcome the NS trainees.

Nalanda welcomes new batch of NS Trainees

Nalanda Youths are currently hosting the 2nd batch of National Service (NS) Trainees in 2014. Sporting their new uniforms, the 60 trainees from Semenyih Camp will be at Nalanda Centre every Sunday from 2pm – 5pm for three consecutive months.

A Taste of Public Service in the U.S.A.

New Youth Library ready for use

For the past few weeks, Pustaka Nalanda librarians have been busy cataloging and arranging books at the new Youth Library located at Level 3 of Nalanda Youth Centre**.  Before this, the Youth Library temporarily occupied ‘Sucinta Room’, which will now house the Chinese Books Section instead.

Sowing Dhamma seeds in National Service trainees

A warm send-off on 9 March marked the end of a 3-month-long Training Programme at Nalanda Centre for 56 National Service trainees from Semenyih Camp.  In the eight sessions spent learning and growing together, the National Service trainees were exposed to basic understanding on Buddhism.  The Nalanda programme also enabled trainees to learn important skills, values and culture that would support and serve them well throughout their lives.
