Members’ Day at Nalanda Centre

On Monday 31 August, Nalandians from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur branches gathered at our ‘Spiritual Home’ – Nalanda Centre – for Members’ Day.  Members present observed a 3-minute silence to pay tribute to our beloved member, the late Sis. Ooi Sock Khoong, who passed away a week before.  Sis. Sock Khoong was earnest in her community service and diligent in her Dhamma practice.

Branch members at ‘Family Fun Fair’

Over the weekend on 8 – 9 August, members from Nalanda branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani came to support the recent ‘Family Fun Fair’ – the Society’s fund-raising event in Sri Serdang.  It was a wonderful day as all members mingled and worked seamlessly with other Nalandians as we share a common culture of community service.

Sungai Petani Branch Members’ Day

On Saturday 27 June, members of Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch came together eagerly for the monthly Members’ Day gathering.  Members watched a video recording of Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan’s teaching on “Taking Refuge”, where he explained the significance of taking refuge in the Three Jewels properly and with understanding.

Joyful Wesak at Nalanda Centre

This year’s Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ was truly special and joyful for Nalandians, as members from Nalanda’s three branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani came ‘home’ to join in the celebrations in Sri Serdang.  The gathering of Nalandians from 1 to 3 May also took part in celebrating the Society’s 12th Anniversary, the Officiating Ceremony of Nalanda Centre Annex Building, as well as participating in the 3rd National Members’ Convention.

Kedah Members’ Day in May

On Saturday 23 May, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch held our monthly Members’ Day with much joy, especially with the presence of Nalanda Founder Bro Tan.  During the meeting, Sis. Ooi Joo See shared with members on the important subject of the “Noble Eightfold Path”.  Bro. Tan then elaborated on the seven stages of purification** (see Note below), quoting from ‘Rathavinīta Sutta’ – ‘The Relay Chariots’ (Majjhima Nikāya No. 24).  This is the gradual course of practising Dhamma to its complete fruition – in stages from one to seven.

Meeting with Nalanda’s National Leadership

On 26 April, the Management Committee of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch met with the national leadership at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The meeting was organised by KL Branch Chairman Bro. Eugene Yong for everyone to exchange ideas on the branch’s progress and development. Nalanda President Sis. Evelyn Chow, Deputy President Bro. Charlie, Honorary Secretary Bro. Pee, and Executive Secretary Sis. Nandini attended the fruitful session.

Sungai Petani Branch Members’ Day in April

On Saturday 25 April, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Gurun Buddhist Association for their monthly Members’ Day.  During the meeting, Sis. Yen See shared her reflections from Venerable Ajahn Jayasaro’s book – “Without and Within”.  She also shared about her personal experience in practising the Dhamma.
