On Friday 1 May, Nalanda Buddhist Society members from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Kedah branches came together to discuss the Society’s growth for the next five years in the 3rd National Members’ Convention, held at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. Founder Bro. H S Tan presented an important lecture on ‘The Way Forward’, charting the path for Nalandians to advance personally and organisationally.

Dr. Chung, who is the Associate Dean at Taylor’s University School of Engineering, and the Head for Taylor’s Technology Innovation Centre (TTIC), introduced a range of innovation philosophies and processes to guide participants in understanding the factors that contribute to an organisation’s innovative character, and how these help to enhance our services to the community.

Read moreOn Saturday 28 March, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch held our monthly Members’ Day at the usual meeting place – Gurun Buddhist Association. Members who attended the gathering were glad to have Bro. Tan’s presence during the meeting. Branch Committee Member Dr. Aw shared his reflections on the “Mūlapariyāya Sutta” with the gathering. After which, Dr. Song led an interactive discussion session on the topics from Venerable Ajahn Jayasaro’s book – “Without and Within”.

Since 2007, this date has been designated “Nalanda Patron’s Day” – an annual programme to commemorate and appreciate all our donors, benefactors and volunteers who have contributed tremendously to the growth of Nalanda, and by extension, to the development of Buddhist education.

Heading the Board of Management is Sis. Evelyn Chow, who was elected Nalanda’s fourth leader and first female President. Bro. Charlie Teng was elected the Deputy President, while Bro. Pee Che Yong is the new Honorary Secretary. Sis. Margaret Ng was appointed the Honorary Treasurer.
