Pindacāra in Kuala Lumpur

On Saturday 1 August, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ Programme at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets was held with three venerable Sangha members going on alms-round.  The morning Pūja and chanting session at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur was led by Branch Chairman, Bro. Eugene.  Nalandians and volunteers then proceeded to Sri Petaling and subsequently to Happy Garden for the alms-round.

‘Family Fun Fair’ in Johor Bahru

We invite you together with your family members and friends to visit the ‘Family Fun Fair’ at NEO Centre, Taman Johor Jaya.  The ‘Fun Fair’ is held in aid of Nalanda’s “Education & Development Fund”.  The proceeds will be channeled to support educational programmes of Nalanda Free School and Dhamma School.

Kedah Members’ Day in August

On Saturday 22 August, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Gurun Buddhist Association for their monthly Members’ Day.  During the meeting, Branch Chairman Bro. Seng Giap reminded members to reflect on the Dhamma teachings taught by Bro. Tan on 17 July and to practice in our daily lives.  After an interactive discussion, members agreed on a list of qualities, including faith, generosity and virtues for cultivation towards a good practitioner and good friend.

Members’ Day in Kedah

On Saturday 25 July, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Gurun Buddhist Association for their monthly Members’ Day.  During the meeting, Bro. Khaw Keng Hooi joyfully shared on the ‘Four Noble Truths’.  He encouraged members to have courage (one of Nalanda’s Core Values) to do the same as part of learning and practice.

NEO Centre construction progressing well

On 2 July, Nalanda Founder Bro.Tan made a visit to NEO Centre Sungai Petani (SP) in Kedah to witness its progress.  He was accompanied by Nalanda SP Branch Chairman Bro. Khaw, Deputy Chairman Bro.Teoh, and Building Committee Members.  Project Coordinator Ar. Bro. Fong briefed the team on the progress of construction work, which began in April and is currently 42% completed.

First ‘Samaggi’ Day at NEO Centre Johor Bahru

On Sunday 28 June, Nalandians came together at NEO Centre Johor Bahru in their uniforms (white top and sarong) to observe their first ‘Samaggi’ Day which is on the last Sunday of every month.  The meaning of ‘Samaggi’ is unity and harmony.

‘Gotong-Royong’ at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur

On Saturday 30 May, Nalandians from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur came together to give NEO Centre in Happy Garden a thorough clean-up.  The enthusiastic volunteers also cleared the immediate neighbourhood of rubbish and illegal posters.  Everyone who took part in the cleaning were joyful to work together and in the process, had also gotten to know each other better, thus creating a stronger bond among Nalandians.

Wesak Day at NEO Centre Happy Garden

Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ was celebrated with joy and spiritual fervour at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Happy Garden on 3 May 2015.  Chairman Bro. Eugene Yong and other Committee Members were on hand to welcome devotees to the 4th Wesak Observance at Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch since its establishment.

‘Buddha Day’ celebrated at NEO Centre Johor Bahru

On Sunday 3 May, devotees and volunteers joyfully participated in the Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ programme with meditation to calm their minds, Pūja (offerings to the Three Jewels) and chanting.  First-time visitors were brought on a building tour of NEO Centre Johor Bahru, besides being introduced to the educational programmes and regular activities of the centre.

Second Anniversary of NEO Centre Johor Bahru

Today marks the second anniversary of the opening of Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru.  On this special occasion, Nalanda Buddhist Society would like to thank all members, benefactors, volunteers and supporters who have worked hard for the establishment of this important Dhamma-education facility in Southern Johor.
