Pindacāra in Seri Kembangan Market

To mark the auspicious start of the Gimhana Period (8 June – 22 July), Nalandian devotees led by Bro. Vincent Lee organized a Pindacāra this morning at the Jalan Besar market in Seri Kembangan.  Three venerable monks accepted our invitation to go on alms-round, providing a welcoming sight and bringing much joy to the early market-goers.  As Nalanda has been organizing Pindacāra quite frequently at the place, the crowd there is generally accustomed to giving, and gladly came forward with their alms-offerings.

Monthly Pindacāra at Taman O.U.G. on 1 June

'Bhikkhu', the Pāli word for monk, literally means one who goes on alms. On Saturday, 1 June, a team of Nalandians and volunteers gathered at the NEO Centre in Happy Garden early in the morning for chanting and invocation. Having taken refuge in the Three Jewels and undertaken to observe the Five Precepts properly, with renewed aspirations, the team set out to the Taman O.U.G. market and prepared to commence the Pindacāra (alms-round).

Monthly Pindacāra in April

It was yet another wonderful morning when Buddhist laity in Taman O.U.G. morning market had the opportunity to offer alms-food to the venerable bhikkhus on Pindacāra.  This monthly programme organised by the Nalanda Sangha Support Team continues to attract the interests and participation of the marketing crowd, as well as stall operators there.  After the Pindacāra, devotees adjourned to NEO Centre in Happy Garden for a Mandarin Dhamma Talk by Bro. Aggaphala Yap.  We take this opportunity to thank the venerables, all our great volunteers and the Sangha Support Team members for their monthly effort in providing this programme for the benefit of the many.  Sadhu anumodana!

The Joy of Giving

On 1 December, there were many joyful and generous people waiting at Taman O.U.G. morning market to offer alms-food to the members of the Sangha.  The monthly alms-round allows lay people to do good deeds with kind intentions and actions.  A team of Nalandians with full devotion encouraged more people in the market to ‘do good and feel good’.  They also took the opportunity to engage with the public and explain to them on the practice of Pindacāra.
