MH370 – Missing, but not forgotten

On 8 March 2014, exactly 3 months ago today, Malaysia Airlines MH370 vanished from our radar screens while on a routine flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.  The mysterious disappearance of that Boeing 777 set off the biggest and most complicated search and rescue operations in aviation history, involving experts and personnel from 26 countries, and the deployment of many technologically-advanced equipment.

The Tragic Mystery of MH370

Today is exactly 2 months since the mysterious disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 in the early hours of 8 March, while on a routine flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.  Despite intensive efforts by a multi-national and multi-disciplinary team of experts, no trace of the missing airplane has been found so far.  The enigma of flight MH370 continues to bewilder the whole world.

Prayers for Missing Korean Ferry Passengers

On 16 April, a South Korean ferry enroute to Jeju Island sank 20 km off the mainland.  Even after hours of search and rescue, almost 300 passengers were still listed as missing in the cold sea waters by night fall.  The majority of 476 passengers on board were high school students and their teachers on a planned tour to Jeju Island.

What burning ‘paper money’ really meant

During a funeral ceremony in ancient China, paper-made models of houses, sedan chairs, treasure chests, clothes, daily utensils, and even effigies of servants, were burnt as the cortege was leaving home for burial in the cemetery.

New-Moon Uposatha Service

On Monday 31 March, devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre for the New-moon Uposatha (Observance) Day pūja and chanting.  The day also marked the conclusion of 7-day prayers for the casualties of MH370, which started since the broadcast of the heartbreaking official news on 24 March on the crash of the airplane in the Indian Ocean.

Nalandians and devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre last night (27 March) for special prayers and a moving Memorial Service for casualties of MH370.  Founder Bro. Tan led the congregation in 20 minutes of Metta Meditation, followed by Pūja (offerings) and Pāli chanting.
