On Sunday 11 January, devotees and parents were glad to attend a ‘welcoming’ Induction programme after the morning session of meditation, Pūja and chanting.  The 5-session programme aims to provide the essential knowledge on living in accordance with the Dhamma for the participants.

On Sunday 7 December, Dr. Phang Cheng Kar delivered a Dhamma talk on “Mindful Breathing Made Easy for Mental Hygiene” at Nalanda Centre.  He highlighted that healthy mental hygiene will lead to a calm, happy and positive mind.

Sunday Talk by Datuk Charlie Chia

On Sunday 23 November, devotees were delighted to learn about the Buddha’s teaching on ‘cause and effects’.  Speaker Datuk Charlie Chia skillfully explained human conditions relative to ‘Kamma’.  All beings are owners and heirs to the effects of their actions.  Therefore, by maintaining wholesome actions, we are nurturing good conditions for our future well-being.

Kedahan Visitors at Nalanda Centre

On Sunday 23 November, 8 members from 3 Buddhist organisations in Kedah – Young Buddhist Association Malaysia (Kedah Liaison Committee), Gurun Buddhist Association and Guar Chempedak Buddhist Society – made a study visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The visitors participated in the pūja and chanting at our Service Sunday; after which they were brought on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Nalanda Youth Centre.  Our Kedahan visitors were impressed with the peaceful ambience and functionality of the Centre.

Service Sunday and appreciation luncheon

On Sunday 16 November, a fortnight after the successful hosting of ‘Xuan Zang – Journey to the West’ musical, a special Service Sunday and volunteer appreciation luncheon was held at Nalanda Centre.  The simple celebration was to express gratitude and appreciation to all volunteers who contributed towards the success of the Musical.  It was also an occasion to offer a special blessing service to Bro. Tan and his entourage who were leaving on a pilgrimage to India and Nepal the next morning.

Venerable Narada’s Commemoration Day

On Sunday 26 October, Nalandians gathered in unity to commemorate yet another great Buddhist luminary – Venerable Narada Nāyaka Māha Thero.  This commemoration day programme was both initiated and organised by Pustaka Nalanda (the library).  The commemoration service began with pūja and chanting, followed by Dhamma teachings by Nalanda Founder Bro Tan.  He spoke about values that Ven. Narada held on to, and how the late venerable was a great Buddhist leader for us to emulate and learn from. Read more
