31 August 2013 marked the 7th Anniversary of the late Ven. Dr. Kirinde Sri Dhammananda's passing. Nalanda honoured our late Spiritual Advisor with a commemoration ceremony on that day. After the meditation, puja and chanting, Bro. Tan gave a moving and poignant Dhamma talk, with fond recollections of the late venerable’s humour, kindness, wit and wisdom. Bro. Tan also reminded us to “admire the Dhamma from near”, and live closely in accordance with the Dhamma.

Dr. K Anuruddha Nayaka Thero, the first Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist & Pāli University of Sri Lanka. The Venerable was highly respected for his vast learning in the Tipitaka and erudite teachings. Ven. Anuruddha was also Bro. Tan’s Pāli teacher. At Nalanda, we expressed our appreciation and gratitude to all teachers through two types of Puja (offerings), that is Patipatti Puja where we performed wholesome deeds – dana, meditation and chanting to honour our teachers, and Amisa Puja which is giving our teachers presents. Nalandians also shared about how their lives were transformed by inspiring teachers.
