On Saturday 18 June, six volunteer librarians from the Buddhist Māhavihāra (BMV) received training at Nalanda on how to use the OPAC library cataloging system. A special session to understand the functions and capabilities of the OPAC system was conducted by Pustaka Nalanda (Library) Director Bro. Ananda Fong, IT Manager Bro. Lam, and Operations Manager Sis. Chin.

In the first part of the training, Dhamma School Director Sis. The participants consisted of Indonesian undergraduates aged between 18 and 21 years old, studying in Malaysia. The theme of the camp was “It all starts from Me”.

F.U.N. is meant for Buddhist undergraduates and youths to learn leadership skills and at the same time, to interact with other young Buddhists from various universities and colleges. Through this programme, participants are given the training to be an effective leader through courses and activities. It is a lively session that encourages positive interaction, learning and laughter!

The fruitful workshop was designed to train in-house emcees to host various Nalanda programmes and activities with poise, confidence and effectiveness. The facilitators, Sis. Sadhika Tan and Bro. Tong, shared many useful techniques including ways to overcome stage fright, effective delivery, as well as organising and preparing the presentation.

Dr. Chung, who is the Associate Dean at Taylor’s University School of Engineering, and the Head for Taylor’s Technology Innovation Centre (TTIC), introduced a range of innovation philosophies and processes to guide participants in understanding the factors that contribute to an organisation’s innovative character, and how these help to enhance our services to the community.
